Areas of Expertise
Technical Training, Technical Program Design, Program Management, Problem Solving, Data Analysis, Customer Success, Relationship Management.
After earning my Bachelor's degree in Communication, I began my career as a training coordinator and progressed to presenting technical training in the classroom. From there, I went on to enjoy various positions presenting technical content and engaging customers in pre-sales environments. From that experience, I learned how to design training programs that keep adult learners engaged so they can retain the knowledge they need to be successful. Within the last seven years I've excelled as a program manager in the information security space where I design self-paced training and certification programs. The programs I design help security engineers and analysts achieve and maintain their technical certifications so they are prepared to identify and mitigate a variety of cybersecurity threats and breaches.

I have always been passionate about helping people and that skill has served me well in all aspects of my professional career as well as my personal life. I enjoy volunteering at local non-profits such as Central Texas Food Bank, American Heart Association, and The Ronald McDonald House of Austin. As a lifetime learner I also read extensively to learn new skills. My other hobbies include running, hiking, and paddle-boarding. I also enjoy creative writing and submit my writing to various publishing outlets and writing contests.
About Me.
I am a proud fourth generation native Texan and alumni of Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. I have lived in Texas most of my life with brief adventures to Pittsfield, Massachusetts and Manly, Australia. My family and I have traveled extensively and it's difficult to choose a favorite destination but a few of my recent trips have included Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and Maui. As an active runner I ran the NYC marathon in 2021 when it was the 50th anniversary of that race. My best friend and I completed it together which made it even more memorable. My next running goal is to qualify and complete the Boston marathon. Wish me luck!
Education
1991-1995
Bachelor's Degree - Communication
Texas State University
During my time at Texas State University I majored in Communication where I gained valuable research, presentation and speechwriting skills. I also minored in English where I enjoyed creative writing classes and led study groups for incoming freshmen. My writing was highlighted in multiple classes as a good example of creativity, clarity, and structure.
2023 - 2024
Certified in Cybersecurity
ISC2 - International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium
During my study at ISC2, I gained the knowledge to become Certified in Cybersecurity. In order to obtain this certification I studied the affects of malware, phishing programs, DOS attacks and many other exploits. I gained an understanding of how to identify and mitigate these exploits and how to use cybersecurity best practices to limit threat vectors and harden a network environment against attacks.
